Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 12 oz white chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Pink food coloring, as needed
  • Butter or nonstick spray for pan


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a heart-shaped cake pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract.
  5. Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk, mixing until just combined.
  6. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 30–35 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Allow cake to cool completely.
  8. Heat heavy cream until just simmering, then pour over white chocolate.
  9. Let sit 2 minutes, then stir until smooth.
  10. Add pink food coloring to achieve a blushing shade.
  11. Pour ganache over the cooled cake, letting it drip naturally.
  12. Chill briefly to set before serving.
