Description

Cheddar Bay Hamburger Casserole is a hearty, cheesy comfort food that combines juicy ground beef, a rich savory filling, and a golden, buttery Cheddar Bay biscuit topping. It’s the perfect weeknight dinner — easy to make, family-friendly, and full of flavor inspired by Red Lobster’s famous biscuits.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 (10.5 oz) can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (divided)
  • 1 (11 oz) box Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuit Mix
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley or chives, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet, cook ground beef and diced onion over medium-high heat until the beef is browned and onions are tender, about 5–6 minutes. Drain excess grease.
  3. Add minced garlic, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir and cook for 1 minute.
  4. Reduce heat to low and stir in the cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, and 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese. Mix until smooth and combined.
  5. Pour beef mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  6. In a medium bowl, prepare the Cheddar Bay biscuit mix according to the package directions, using the included seasoning packet, milk, and shredded cheddar cheese.
  7. Spread or drop spoonfuls of the biscuit dough evenly over the beef layer.
  8. Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and cooked through.
  9. In a small bowl, combine melted butter and garlic powder. Brush over the biscuit topping right after removing from the oven.
  10. Garnish with parsley or chives, let rest for 5 minutes, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Substitute ground turkey or sausage for the beef for a different twist.
  • Add frozen peas, green beans, or corn for extra texture and nutrition.
  • For extra cheesiness, sprinkle more cheddar on top before baking.
