Description

Soft, rich Christmas cream cheese cookies with a tender, melt-in-your-mouth texture and festive holiday flair.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract (optional)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Red and green sanding sugar or sprinkles for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the butter, cream cheese, and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract; mix until smooth.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until a soft dough forms.
  6. Shape dough into 1-inch balls and roll in red or green sugar.
  7. Place on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until edges are just set but not browned.
  9. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to finish cooling.

Notes

  • Chill dough for 30 minutes if it feels too soft to roll.
  • Use holiday sprinkles for a more festive look.
  • Do not overbake—the cookies should stay soft.
