Description

A rich and comforting lasagna layered with tender pasta, a creamy white sauce, shrimp, crab, and melted cheese for an elegant seafood dinner.

Ingredients

  • 9 lasagna noodles
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled, deveined, and chopped
  • 8 ounces lump crab meat
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil
  • 1 cup baby spinach, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté onion until softened, then add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  4. Add the shrimp and cook for 2 to 3 minutes until just pink. Stir in the crab meat, parsley, basil, and spinach. Remove from heat.
  5. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, Parmesan cheese, and 1 cup of mozzarella until combined.
  6. For the sauce, melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in milk and heavy cream until smooth.
  7. Season the sauce with salt, black pepper, paprika, and nutmeg. Simmer until thickened, stirring often.
  8. Spread a thin layer of sauce in the baking dish. Add a layer of noodles, then ricotta mixture, seafood mixture, sauce, and mozzarella. Repeat the layers, ending with sauce and the remaining mozzarella on top.
  9. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 15 to 20 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  10. Let the lasagna rest for 10 to 15 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Use a mix of shrimp, crab, and scallops for more variety.
  • Do not overcook the seafood before baking to keep it tender.
  • Frozen seafood can be used if fully thawed and drained well.
  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
  • Letting the lasagna rest before serving helps it hold its shape.
