Ingredients
- 9 lasagna noodles
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 pound shrimp, peeled, deveined, and chopped
- 8 ounces lump crab meat
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil
- 1 cup baby spinach, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté onion until softened, then add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
- Add the shrimp and cook for 2 to 3 minutes until just pink. Stir in the crab meat, parsley, basil, and spinach. Remove from heat.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, Parmesan cheese, and 1 cup of mozzarella until combined.
- For the sauce, melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in milk and heavy cream until smooth.
- Season the sauce with salt, black pepper, paprika, and nutmeg. Simmer until thickened, stirring often.
- Spread a thin layer of sauce in the baking dish. Add a layer of noodles, then ricotta mixture, seafood mixture, sauce, and mozzarella. Repeat the layers, ending with sauce and the remaining mozzarella on top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 15 to 20 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Let the lasagna rest for 10 to 15 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Use a mix of shrimp, crab, and scallops for more variety.
- Do not overcook the seafood before baking to keep it tender.
- Frozen seafood can be used if fully thawed and drained well.
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
- Letting the lasagna rest before serving helps it hold its shape.
