Description
Light and airy angel food cake cubes fried until crisp and tossed in cinnamon sugar for churro-style bites.
Ingredients
- 1 store-bought angel food cake (about 12 oz)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- Chocolate sauce or caramel sauce, for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Cut the angel food cake into small bite-sized cubes.
- In a shallow bowl, mix the sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Set aside.
- Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium heat until shimmering.
- Fry the cake cubes in batches, turning occasionally, until golden and crispy, 1–2 minutes.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and immediately toss in the cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat.
- Serve warm with chocolate or caramel sauce if desired.
Notes
- Use day-old angel food cake for easier cutting.
- Do not overcrowd the oil or the bites won’t crisp properly.
- Best served immediately after frying.
