Description
Crispy, golden handheld pies filled with creamy cheesecake and sweet strawberry filling, deep-fried to indulgent perfection.
Ingredients
- 1 cup diced strawberries
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 8 small pie dough rounds or 8 egg roll wrappers
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Oil for frying
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat until softened and slightly thickened. Let cool.
- In a bowl, mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
- Lay out the pie dough rounds or wrappers and add a small spoonful of cream cheese mixture in the center, followed by a spoonful of strawberry filling.
- Brush the edges with egg wash, fold over to seal, and crimp edges with a fork.
- Heat oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry pies in batches for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Remove and drain on paper towels. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
- Chill the filling before assembling for easier handling.
- You may use store-bought pie crust or biscuit dough.
- Air-fry at 375°F for 7–9 minutes for a lighter version.
