Description

Easy Salted Carmelitas are rich, chewy dessert bars made with layers of buttery oat crumble, melty chocolate, and gooey salted caramel—simple to prepare and incredibly indulgent.

Ingredients

    • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
    • 1 cup brown sugar
    • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 1/2 cups old-fashioned oats
    • 1 tsp baking soda
    • 1/2 tsp salt
    • 1 cup chocolate chips

  • Salted Caramel Filling:
  • 1 cup caramel sauce or melted soft caramels
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream
  • 1/21 tsp sea salt (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, flour, oats, baking soda, and salt until a crumbly dough forms.
  3. Press half of the mixture into the bottom of the baking pan and bake for 10 minutes.
  4. While the crust bakes, warm caramel sauce with heavy cream and sea salt until smooth.
  5. Remove crust from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips evenly on top.
  6. Pour salted caramel mixture over the chocolate.
  7. Crumble the remaining oat mixture over the top.
  8. Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until lightly golden and bubbling.
  9. Cool completely before cutting into bars—caramel firms as it cools.

Notes

  • Chill in the fridge for cleaner slices.
  • Use dark chocolate chips for a richer flavor.
  • Add chopped pecans to the topping for extra crunch.
