Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter
  • 8 oz (225g) semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup (50g) brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup (65g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8 inch pan with parchment paper.
  2. Melt butter and chopped chocolate together in a heatproof bowl over simmering water (double boiler method), stirring until smooth.
  3. Remove from heat and whisk in granulated sugar and brown sugar until combined.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Sift in flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gently fold until just combined—do not overmix.
  6. Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the edges are set and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs.
  8. Cool completely in the pan before slicing into squares.

Notes

  • For extra fudginess, slightly underbake the brownies.
  • Chill brownies before cutting for clean slices.
