Description
A rich and creamy homemade creamed corn made with sweet corn kernels, butter, milk, and cream for a comforting side dish that pairs perfectly with many meals.
Ingredients
- 4 cups fresh or frozen corn kernels
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 cup (240 ml) whole milk
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Optional: 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the corn kernels and cook for about 3–4 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Sprinkle the flour over the corn and stir well to coat evenly.
- Slowly pour in the milk while stirring to prevent lumps.
- Add the heavy cream, sugar, salt, and black pepper.
- Simmer for 5–7 minutes, stirring frequently, until the mixture thickens and becomes creamy.
- Stir in Parmesan cheese if using and cook for another minute.
- Remove from heat and serve warm.
Notes
- For a smoother texture, blend half of the corn before cooking.
- Fresh corn will provide the best flavor, but frozen corn works well too.
- You can add a pinch of paprika or garlic powder for extra flavor.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat gently.
