Description

A rich and creamy homemade creamed corn made with sweet corn kernels, butter, milk, and cream for a comforting side dish that pairs perfectly with many meals.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups fresh or frozen corn kernels
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 cup (240 ml) whole milk
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the corn kernels and cook for about 3–4 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Sprinkle the flour over the corn and stir well to coat evenly.
  4. Slowly pour in the milk while stirring to prevent lumps.
  5. Add the heavy cream, sugar, salt, and black pepper.
  6. Simmer for 5–7 minutes, stirring frequently, until the mixture thickens and becomes creamy.
  7. Stir in Parmesan cheese if using and cook for another minute.
  8. Remove from heat and serve warm.

Notes

  • For a smoother texture, blend half of the corn before cooking.
  • Fresh corn will provide the best flavor, but frozen corn works well too.
  • You can add a pinch of paprika or garlic powder for extra flavor.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat gently.
