Description

Italian Tiramisu is a classic no-bake dessert made with layers of espresso-soaked ladyfingers, rich mascarpone cream, and a dusting of cocoa powder, known for its light yet indulgent texture.

Ingredients

  • 6 large egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 2 cups strong brewed espresso, cooled
  • 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 1 package ladyfinger cookies (savoiardi)
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a heatproof bowl, whisk egg yolks and sugar over a double boiler until pale and thick.
  2. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. Whisk in mascarpone cheese and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. In a separate bowl, whip heavy cream to stiff peaks.
  5. Gently fold whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture.
  6. Mix espresso with coffee liqueur if using.
  7. Quickly dip ladyfingers into espresso mixture and arrange in a single layer in a dish.
  8. Spread half of the mascarpone cream over the ladyfingers.
  9. Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and remaining cream.
  10. Cover and refrigerate for at least 6 hours or overnight.
  11. Dust with cocoa powder before serving.

Notes

  • Do not over-soak the ladyfingers to avoid sogginess.
  • Chilling overnight improves flavor and texture.
  • Use high-quality mascarpone for best results.
