Italian Tiramisu is a classic no-bake dessert made with layers of espresso-soaked ladyfingers, rich mascarpone cream, and a dusting of cocoa powder, known for its light yet indulgent texture.
Ingredients
- 6 large egg yolks
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup mascarpone cheese
- 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
- 2 cups strong brewed espresso, cooled
- 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional)
- 1 package ladyfinger cookies (savoiardi)
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a heatproof bowl, whisk egg yolks and sugar over a double boiler until pale and thick.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Whisk in mascarpone cheese and vanilla extract until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whip heavy cream to stiff peaks.
- Gently fold whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture.
- Mix espresso with coffee liqueur if using.
- Quickly dip ladyfingers into espresso mixture and arrange in a single layer in a dish.
- Spread half of the mascarpone cream over the ladyfingers.
- Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and remaining cream.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 6 hours or overnight.
- Dust with cocoa powder before serving.

- Do not over-soak the ladyfingers to avoid sogginess.
- Chilling overnight improves flavor and texture.
