Description

Kartoffel Käse Sticks are crispy German-style potato and cheese sticks made from mashed potatoes mixed with melted cheese, coated in breadcrumbs, and fried or baked until golden and crunchy. They’re the perfect snack or appetizer — crispy on the outside and soft, cheesy on the inside.


Ingredients

  • 3 medium potatoes, peeled and boiled
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • Oil, for frying


Instructions

  1. Boil the potatoes until tender, then mash them in a large bowl until smooth.
  2. Mix in mozzarella, Parmesan, cornstarch, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika until well combined.
  3. Shape the potato mixture into small sticks or logs.
  4. Prepare a breading station: place flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs in separate bowls.
  5. Coat each potato stick first in flour, then egg, then breadcrumbs.
  6. Heat oil in a deep skillet over medium heat.
  7. Fry the sticks in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 2–3 minutes per side.
  8. Drain on paper towels and serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
  9. Alternatively, bake at 400°F (200°C) for 15–20 minutes for a lighter version.

  • You can add herbs like chives or parsley for extra flavor.
