Description
Mary Berry’s Malteser Tray Bake is a no-bake chocolate delight made with crushed biscuits, Maltesers, and a rich blend of golden syrup, butter, and chocolate. Finished with a smooth chocolate topping and extra Maltesers on top, it’s a simple yet irresistible treat perfect for sharing.
Ingredients
- 300g milk chocolate, chopped
- 100g dark chocolate, chopped
- 100g unsalted butter
- 3 tbsp golden syrup
- 250g digestive biscuits, crushed
- 150g Maltesers (roughly chopped, plus extra for topping)
- 200g milk chocolate (for topping)
- 50g white chocolate (for drizzle, optional)
Instructions
- Line a 9×9-inch (23cm) square baking tin with parchment paper.
- In a large saucepan, melt the butter, golden syrup, and 300g milk chocolate over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth. Remove from heat.
- Stir in the crushed digestive biscuits and chopped Maltesers until fully coated in the chocolate mixture.
- Press the mixture evenly into the prepared tin, smoothing the top with a spatula. Chill for 30 minutes to set slightly.
- Melt the remaining 200g milk chocolate (and white chocolate, if using) in a heatproof bowl over simmering water or in short microwave bursts.
- Pour melted milk chocolate over the chilled base and spread evenly. Sprinkle extra Maltesers on top and drizzle with white chocolate if desired.
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until firm.
- Cut into squares or bars to serve.
Notes
- Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week.
- For a twist, add a handful of mini marshmallows or swap digestives for graham crackers.
- Use good-quality chocolate for the best flavor and texture.
