Description
Tender chicken breasts smothered in a rich basil-infused cream sauce and topped with gooey melted mozzarella — a comforting, restaurant-quality dinner made at home.
Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1/2 cup (65g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp butter
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup (240ml) heavy cream
- 1/2 cup (120ml) chicken broth
- 1/2 cup (50g) grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup (100g) shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil (plus extra for garnish)
- 1 tbsp sun-dried tomato pieces (optional)
Instructions
- In a shallow bowl, mix flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Dredge chicken breasts lightly in the flour mixture, shaking off excess.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook 5–6 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté garlic for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Pour in heavy cream and chicken broth, stirring to combine. Bring to a gentle simmer.
- Stir in Parmesan cheese and fresh basil until the sauce thickens slightly, about 3–5 minutes.
- Return chicken to the skillet, spooning sauce over the top. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly over the chicken.
- Cover the pan and simmer on low heat for 3–4 minutes until cheese melts and chicken is heated through.
- Garnish with more fresh basil and serve warm over pasta, rice, or mashed potatoes.
Notes
- Use fresh basil for the best flavor — dried basil can be used in a pinch.
- For a deeper flavor, add sun-dried tomatoes or a splash of white wine to the sauce.
- Pairs perfectly with roasted vegetables or garlic bread.
