Description

A classic Southern-style chicken salad made with tender chicken, creamy dressing, and simple seasonings for a comforting, old-fashioned favorite.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups cooked chicken, finely chopped or shredded
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup celery, finely diced
  • 2 tbsp sweet pickle relish
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
  • Paprika for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, add the chopped or shredded cooked chicken.
  2. Add the mayonnaise, celery, sweet pickle relish, and Dijon mustard.
  3. Season with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Stir gently until all ingredients are well combined and evenly coated.
  5. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
  6. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  7. Garnish with fresh parsley and a sprinkle of paprika before serving, if desired.

Notes

  • For a more traditional texture, finely chop the chicken instead of shredding it.
  • You can substitute part of the mayonnaise with Greek yogurt for a lighter version.
  • This chicken salad is perfect for sandwiches, crackers, or served over lettuce.
