Ingredients
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup sun-dried tomatoes, chopped
- 1 cup orzo pasta
- 1 1/2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 tbsp butter
- Fresh basil, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Season chicken with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear chicken for 4–5 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add garlic and sun-dried tomatoes. Sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add orzo and toast for 1–2 minutes, stirring frequently.
- Pour in chicken broth and heavy cream. Stir in Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes (optional), and Parmesan cheese.
- Return chicken to the skillet, nestling it into the orzo mixture.
- Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer for 12–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until orzo is tender and sauce is creamy.
- Stir in butter for extra richness. Adjust seasoning as needed.
- Garnish with fresh basil and additional Parmesan before serving.
Notes
- If sauce thickens too much, add extra broth or cream.
- Use chicken thighs for juicier meat.
- Orzo continues to absorb liquid as it sits — serve immediately for the creamiest texture.
- For a lighter version, swap heavy cream with half-and-half.
