Description

These Ranch Scalloped Potatoes are creamy, cheesy, and irresistibly flavorful. Thinly sliced potatoes are layered with ranch-seasoned cream and melted cheese for an easy, crowd-pleasing side dish that pairs perfectly with any meal.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs (900g) russet or Yukon gold potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 packet (1 oz) ranch seasoning mix
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and sauté garlic until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  3. Add heavy cream, milk, and ranch seasoning mix. Stir well and heat until warm (do not boil).
  4. Layer half of the sliced potatoes evenly in the prepared dish.
  5. Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes and sprinkle with 1 cup cheddar cheese and 1/4 cup Parmesan.
  6. Repeat with remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and cheeses.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes.
  8. Remove foil and bake uncovered for another 20–25 minutes, until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
  9. Let rest for 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped parsley.

Notes

  • Use a mandoline slicer for evenly thin potato slices.
  • Substitute ranch packet with homemade ranch seasoning if preferred.
  • Add cooked bacon or ham for a heartier version.
  • Can be made ahead and reheated before serving.
