Description
Decadent salted caramel chocolate bars with a buttery shortbread base, a smooth gooey caramel center, and a rich chocolate topping finished with a sprinkle of sea salt.
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (for caramel)
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon sea salt (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F) and line a baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, mix 1 cup butter, granulated sugar, flour, and salt until a dough forms.
- Press the dough evenly into the pan to form the base.
- Bake for 18–20 minutes until lightly golden. Let cool slightly.
- In a saucepan, combine brown sugar, 1/2 cup butter, heavy cream, and corn syrup. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thick and smooth.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Pour caramel over the baked crust and spread evenly. Let set for 15–20 minutes.
- Melt chocolate chips and pour over the caramel layer, spreading evenly.
- Sprinkle sea salt over the chocolate.
- Refrigerate for at least 1–2 hours until fully set.
- Cut into bars and serve.

- Use high-quality chocolate for the best flavor and smooth texture.
- Allow bars to come slightly to room temperature before cutting for clean slices.
- Store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
- You can substitute dark chocolate for a richer taste.
