Description

A crispy and flavorful garlic bread topped with fresh tomatoes, basil, and a hint of garlic butter, perfect as an appetizer or side dish.


Ingredients

  • 1 loaf French bread or baguette
  • 3 medium tomatoes, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 tbsp butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Slice the bread in half lengthwise and place on a baking sheet.
  3. Mix butter, half of the garlic, and a pinch of salt, then spread evenly on the bread.
  4. Bake for 8-10 minutes until lightly toasted.
  5. In a bowl, combine tomatoes, remaining garlic, basil, olive oil, salt, and pepper.
  6. Remove bread from oven and top with the tomato mixture.
  7. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top if using.
  8. Return to oven and bake for another 5-7 minutes until cheese melts.
  9. Slice and serve warm.

  • Use ripe, firm tomatoes for the best flavor.
  • You can add a drizzle of balsamic glaze before serving.
  • For extra crunch, toast the bread slightly longer before adding toppings.
