Description

Vanilla French Beignets are fluffy, pillowy fried pastries infused with warm vanilla flavor and dusted in powdered sugar—perfect for an indulgent breakfast or brunch treat.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F / 43°C)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm milk. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract; whisk until combined.
  3. Stir in flour and salt until a soft dough forms. Knead for 3–4 minutes until smooth.
  4. Cover and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Roll dough on a floured surface to about 1/4-inch thickness. Cut into squares or rectangles.
  6. Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry beignets in batches for 1–2 minutes per side until golden.
  7. Transfer to paper towels to drain.
  8. Dust generously with powdered sugar and serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra vanilla flavor, add vanilla bean seeds to the dough.
  • Serve with fruit preserves, chocolate sauce, or fresh berries.
  • Beignets taste best freshly fried but can be reheated in the oven for a few minutes.
