Description

A classic egg-free, dairy-free chocolate Wacky Cake that mixes directly in the pan for a quick, moist, and fluffy dessert.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup water


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8-inch square baking pan.
  2. In the pan, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Make three wells in the dry mixture: one for vinegar, one for vanilla, and one for oil.
  4. Pour water over the entire mixture and stir until fully combined.
  5. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Allow to cool completely before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • You can substitute coffee for water for a richer chocolate flavor.
  • This cake is naturally vegan and very easy to customize.
