Description

A moist and tender apple bread infused with warm cinnamon spice and chunks of fresh apples — perfect for cozy mornings or as a comforting fall snack.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup (50g) brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) milk or buttermilk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups (180g) peeled and chopped apples (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith)
  • For the Cinnamon Swirl: 1/4 cup (50g) brown sugar, 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9×5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Stir in milk and vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Fold in the chopped apples.
  7. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon for the swirl.
  8. Pour half the batter into the loaf pan, sprinkle half the cinnamon-sugar mixture, then add the remaining batter and top with the rest of the cinnamon-sugar.
  9. Use a knife to gently swirl the layers together.
  10. Bake for 55–65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  11. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Best served slightly warm with a pat of butter or cream cheese spread.
  • Store at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
